Part One (need better title)

HOORAY!! Today is the day to start upholstering ! Well.... I did this part on Friday but I didn't have any internet so I'm posting this morning. And I will have several post to come if I can keep it up. Also this title sucks so I'll try to come up with a better one next time.

For todays Part One on the chair I covered the deck part of the chair which is the part that is under the cushion that you sit on. What you will need is a heavy staple gun, your fabric and if you are replacing the filling of the chair you will need the batting as well.

Step One: Measure from the very back of the chair to the very front and over the sides. Then pull out the fabric and cut to size. I cut mine a little bigger than needed and I also cut two layers of the batting.

Step Two: Lay out the batting to make sure it fits. When it does start with the front and staple the batting to the chair so that it stays put. Then staple down the back and the sides.

Step Three: If you havn't done this yet (which I havn't but will do today) then cut out the fabric. Don't forget to use the old fabric as a pattern. when cutting leave about an inch extra on the sides

Step Four: Again just like the batting Start with the front. then the back and then the sides. TIP: don't be afraid to lay the old fabric where it used to go so you can remember how it was laid out and put on. I had to do that several times. Also don't pull the fabric too tight. You don't want it falling apart when someone sits on it.
